Job Description

LGV C+E Driver (Class 1)

Depot Skelmersdale

Shift Pattern – 4on / 4off

Start Date Immediate

Rates of pay Monday to Friday – £130 per shift

Saturday – £145 per shift

Sunday – £155 per shift

There is an opportunity to earn an extra £10 per shift compliance bonus on specific customer contracts.

Role Overview:

As an LGV Class 1 Driver for ARRA you will be responsible for delivering goods safely to our customers distribution centres, stores and reloading or returning to base according to the plan whilst adhering to all legal and safety requirements.

Role Requirements:

Ø Ensuring the safety of the load and that you have the correct load and paperwork

Ø Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene

Ø Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance

Ø Effectively manage own working time in line with Working Time Directive

Ø Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times

Ø Responsible for taking breaks according to legislation to avoid infringements – legal requirement

Ø Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure

Ø Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks (where required)

Ø Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required

Ø Make deliveries to customers’ premises, acting in a professional manner at all times, and observing site rules

Ø Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies with loads

Ø Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery

Ø Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office

Ø To act in a responsibly and safely responsibly on the road at all times

Ø Driving in a fuel-efficient manner

Knowledge and Experience required:

Ø Should have proven experience in driving articulated vehicles and have good geographic knowledge of UK roads

Ø Hold an LGV C+E licence with an up to date CPC qualification

Ø Possess a working knowledge of EU Drivers Hours Regulations and the Road Transport Directive regulations governing working time

Ø Ability to work without direct supervision

Ø Adaptable and methodical approach to work/ training

TRANSPORT PLANNER

Job Description

ARRA Distribution are seeking to recruit an experienced Day Transport Planner, working on a 4on/4off rota basis.

Role Overview:

Responsible for a broad range of activities that contribute to the accurate production of the daily transport plan for the depot. Responsibilities include Customer/Supplier liaison, updating and manipulating current standard plan to reflect fluctuations in daily volumes.

Role Requirements:

Ø Identify accurately requirements for Agency Drivers on a weekly/daily basis.

Ø Assisting with the planning and implementation of strategic depot change.

Ø Collating collection and delivery information using bespoke TMS.

Ø Creating collection plans to inform suppliers of loading requirements in a timely manner.

Ø Maintaining depot standard plan information.

Ø Formulating and communicating accurate depot transport plan for the next day’s operation.

Ø Customer/Supplier/Subcontractor management at a number of levels to ensure that key information is communicated, and the daily plans are achieved.

Key Role Responsibilities:

TRANSPORT MANAGER

Role Overview:

To oversee an effective and efficient operation that is planned and implemented in a safe environment whilst achieving KPI and budgetary requirements without impacting on customer service. To ensure improvement initiatives are communicated and integrated into the depot operations. To effectively communicate changes of site operation policies and procedures.

A Senior Management package with be available for suitable candidate.

Role Requirements:

  • Effective management and communication of operational change.
  • Ensure depot adhere to/surpasses agreed KPIs
  • Overall responsibility for the site transport plan, to ensure maximum efficiencies within the depot.
  • Maintain customer relationships.
  • To promote proactive people management responses to change issues and initiatives to enable the depot to fulfil its responsibility to staff or, in pursuit of depot or organisational aims and objectives.
  • To manage a cohesive and effective management team, achieving consistency between shifts. Ensuring each team member is carrying out their duties efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Involved in disciplinaries and grievances when required and carrying out investigations.
  • To continually improve efficiencies and identify improvements in the daily transport plan.
  • Challenge current operating practices and implement initiatives that add value to the operation.
  • Ensure systems and procedures are ‘Fit for Purpose’ in order to deliver high performance.
  • To attend and contribute to depot groups and wider company meetings, such as BRC and H&S reviews, etc.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring the site meets the required Transport Operating Licence obligations.
  • Ensure strong and visible leadership in all aspects of Health and Safety management.
  • Overall fleet management including; availability and utilisation, as well as servicing and maintenance to prescribed legislative standards. Ensuring that records are maintained.
  • Management of site telematics system to deliver improved service and fuel management.
  • Understands, encourages and complies with company/site safety policies and procedures; completes all required training and takes personal responsibility for the safety of themselves and others.
  • Lead the depot/team in projects associated with the wider business.

Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Takes ownership and works in an autonomous capacity.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation capabilities.
  • Championing a Plan-Do-Review approach to ensure issues are resolved at root cause level.
  • Computer literate, competent user of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • Ideally degree level.
  • Member of recognised associations an advantage.
